small tributaries of the main river The tributary creeks do not have names- even locally but have been described in the Con servation Report as Snowball Creek Wesley Corners Creek and Sharon Creek Snowball Creek rises near Snowball Corner on the third line of King and joins a branch of the Holland River on the southwest edge of Aurora Wes ley Corners Creek starts about half a mile east of Wesley Cor ners and runs northwest to join the Holland above Newmarket Sharon Creek rises in the third concession crosses the highway south of Sharon runs parallel to it until it turns west to join the main river behind the Sharon Temple One or more of these little valleys are suggested as good places to start the Upper Holland Authoritys conservation pro gram These three little valleys are fairly representative of aver age soil conditions throughout the whole Upper Holland water shed- Soil and water conservation Is necessary on the sloping land near the headwaters or along the streams where they cut through the plains The best way to achieve soil and water conserva tion and to bring a farm into its highest state of production is to plan a farm for these purposes Some farmers operate their farms in such a way already On other farms some special measures for soil and water con servation should be introduced These measures may include the building of farm ponds or the planning of a farm by the Soils Advisory Service of the Ontario Agricultural College Any land owner may obtain advice on conservation practices from the Agricultural office at Newmarket The Upper
