werent allowed to develop their slapshot during their minor hockey days The slapshot certainl isnt something you learn overnight and thats just what CAHA is asking people to do It takes lot of hard work and dedication to get it right All of sudden players are given the green light to use the FANTASTIC Crinos said the game in rillia Monday was fan tastic and was looking tor replay ripps said it the fighter he once was and ob viously Earnie Shavers will try to cash in on that fact Thursday night when Ali defends his heavyweight title at Madison Square Garden But Shavers will find was the Shavers of the boxing world have discovered 19 times ale readythat Ali is not disposed to yield the title yet Shavers will find the greatest stumbling block in his path to the title is not Alis left jab his quick combinations or foot work Those weapons have faded with age and constant combat the blue line and waitingwfor the play to return to their end of the rink so they can dot irthing Whatever becomes of it feel it is stupid rule and one that will be more harm than he Im sure there will be peop pto hockey who completel disagree with my feelings But you must agree it certainly as chang ed minor hockey Facemask rule is better idea slapshot when they reach bantam age The only problem is that they wont know how and the consequences could turn out to be even worse than before Everyone will be turning to the slapshot instead of the much quicker snapshot One of the most dis usting sights in hockey is seeing player all alone in front the net wind up for the big slapshot and get checked from behind The rule is not specifically designed to st the slapshot It is supposed to keep the sticks on the ice an cut out some of the eye injuries that have become all too common in hockey It applies to all shots and even passes It is possible the rule will work but very few injuries occur because young hockey players try to slap the uck Its the high sticks in the corners that are responsib for most of them Pretty soon skates will be banned because they are dangerous Hockey players in tyke and atom have enough trouble standin up When they fall they have no control of their skates an that is when most of the injuries occur It is clear that defencemen will have to do things different ly or become extinct They are of no use to their team in the attacking zone because they havent developed wrist shot They will just have to content themselves with standing at The new rule which has made the wearing of face masks mandatory in minor hockey is much more sensible than the slapshot rule but it still isnt anything to write home about Facemasks should be mandatory up to midget hockey but after that is should be up to the players to decide if they want to wear it By that age layers know the dangers involved in hockey Fighting is ig art of midget and juvenile hockey and with face masks ere will be more players who decide to fight because there is no way they can be hurt The sticks will come up higher because it wont matter if you strike player in the head or not It could cause many games to get out of hand HER AND THERE Slessor and Periard insurance ma be bit
