Organizers say that Nikita is a female German Shepherd cross-breed, who was res- cued two months ago from a puppy mill in the Quinte area. The dog, who had been recently spayed, escaped Dec. 20 from a Mississauga home where she was being fostered in hopes of eventual adoption. She was last seen Thurs. Dec. 30 in the vicinity of Highway 407 and Trafalgar Road just north of Oakville. Rescuers have been out each weekend since Nikita escaped and are planning anoth- er outing starting at dawn this Saturday morning.
