Page to students from llandale Public School whove written book reviews and created drawingsl for Lois llowright one of the teachers at the school Mrs Plowright is strong supporter of the Childrens Book Festival being celebrated for the second year in Canada from Nov la 025 The Festival Is sponsored by The Childrens Book Centre which was established in 1976 to promote the reading writing publishing and selling of Canadian childrens books Through special events such as the Festival the Centre tries to bring Canadian hooks to the attention of teachers librarians booksellers and children To do this the Centre assembles list of 144 outstanding Canadian books for all ages and on all subjects The length and variety of that list relfects the growth thats oe curred in childrens book publishing over the past 10 years Like adult Canadian books childrens books are being published and promoted in greater numbers than ever before AT THE LIBRARY At the childrens branch of the Barrie Public Library Margaret Worth the pro gram coordinator says that no special ac tivities are planned to celebrate the Childrens Book Festival Every week is book week for us she said Were always
