Kennedy (Con., Peel) on Tuesday that he inquire into the case of a truck driver who was fined in Mimi-- co Police Court for moving a friend's furniture without a license, Attor-- ney--General Conant yesterday in-- formed the House that he had been unable to determine whether it had been a neighborly act or not. He! said that the trucker had stated he | would be disappointed if he was not paid for the job, and also that the owner of the furniture said he in--| tended to pay for the service. The| Attorney--General also said that the ' owner of the furniture was not un-- employed, as had been claimed. Mr. Conant said that he had no intention of suggesting a change in \ the act which would cover such cases because the subterfuge of hauling , for a neighbor is frequently offered ' as a defense. °_ _ Mr. Conant informed the House that an application had been made . to ths Minister of Highways for a remission of the fine, and he thought that the matter would be settled satisfactorily to all concerned. esmm /
