A quostion arose at this juncture as to whether the imotion just carried replaced Mr. Robinson's motion. Tho CuarRMax ruled that the original motion should be put as amended. Mr. Mxr®orru appealed from the decision of the Chair. Nays--Boll, Deacon, Markin, Hay, Hodgina, Lander, McMahon, Meredith, Miller, (Donoghue, | Patterson (Essex), Robinson, Wills, Williams--14, | _ Mr. Romtxsox moved, seconded by Mr. Micus®, f (© That Mr. Deacon's resolution be reconsidered." | _ This was carried by a vote of 12 to 3, Mesers, | Patterson, Williamns, and Modgins voting in the nogative. ! _ Mr. Dracox then added the substance of Mr. Robinson's motion to his resolation and snbmitted it ' to the Committe®. _ 1t then read :--"That in the opin-- ion of this Committee, see 125 of the ;British North | America _ Act _ excludes from _ the consid-- | eration of this Committee 'ho subjects . of ex-- | emption in sub--section one of section six of the | Act respecting the assessment of property, and that in the opinion of the Committee the Legislature of Ontario has no jurisdiction to repeal the said section of the British Nortb America Act; and that the said sub--section gue of section six stand as it is at presont."
