THE JURORS summoned to enquire into the cause of the death of Alexander Leighton, who died in the Jail at Milton, on the 20th day of February, 1869, find that the deceased Alexander Leighton, died from inflammation of the substance of the brain. It is also the opinion of the Jury that his death was hastened by exposure during his removal from Nelson to Milton, and that the parties having him in charge acted unwisely in advising his committal to jail in such condition. The Jury is also satisfied from the evidence that deceased received every attention from the Jail Physician and others in attendance that could possibly have been given him.
