A ripple of excitement was created at the World's Fair at Rocklyn on Tuesday last by the attempted shooting by a young lady of her alleged seducer. The affair happened two or three years ago and it is said the young woman has been watching her opportunity and has even notified the gentleman in writing of intentions. On Tuesday between one and two o'clock, the lady in question was standing talking to a companion on the verandah of Dodson's store when she saw the gentleman she was in search of, in company with his cousin, walking in a Westerly direction. She stepped out to the street, took a revolver from her hand satchel and deliberately fired. The young man and his comrade ran off in the direction of the township hall and the young lady returned and continued her conversation on the verandah. To a by-stander she said she was determined to shoot him regardless of the consequences. It is said she afterwards stood at the entrance of the main building waiting for him and that he made another hurried exit from that locality. The parties live in the Eastern part of the township are well known, the parents of each of them having occupied responsible municipal positions.--[Mirror.
