A teene atlbe WorM*s Fair at K/cklynâ€" A Poitner for Toung: r men. A ripple of excitement was created at the World's Fair at Rocklyn on Tuesday last by the attempted shooting by a young lady of her alleged sddiidet. The affair bt^penSd two or three! years ago and it is said the young woman has been watehing her opportunity and has even notified the gentleman in writing, of in- tentions. On Tuesday between one and two o'clock, the lady in question, was standing talking to a companion on the ' verandfih of Dodson's store when she ' saw the gentleman she was in search of, in company with his cousin, walking in a Westerly direction. She stepped out to the street, took a revolver ^om her hand satchel and dehberately fired. The young man and his comrade ran off in the direction of the township hall and the young lady returned and continued her conversation on the verandah. To a by-stander she said she was determin- ed to shoot him regardless of the con- sequences. It is said she afterwards stood at the entrance of the main build- ing waiting for him and that he made another hurried exit from that locality. The parties five in the Eastern part of the township are well known the parents of each of them having occupied respon- sible municipal positions. â€" [Mirror. â-  • â-  » Table manners for Children. As Uttle folks are sometimes not polite or orderly at their meals, the following simple and practical rules are given for their special benefit, and which we would advise them to commit to memory â€" ' In silence I must take my seat, And give God thanks before I eat Must for my food in patience wait Till I am asked to hand my plate I must not scold, nor whine, nor pout. Nor move my chair or plate about With knife, cr fork, or napkin ring, 1 must not play â€" nor must I sing I must not speak a useless word â€" For children must be seen â€" not heard I must not talk about my food, Nor fret if I don't think it pood My month with food I must not crowd, Nor while I'm eating speak aloud Must turn my head to cough or sneeze. And when I a.sk. say, "If you please," The table cloth I must not soil Must keep my seat when I have done. Not round the table sport or run When told to rise, then I must put My chaii away with noiseless foot. And lift my heart to God above In praise for all His wonderous love. tBA^^. -AEE- Fairly good at Present, AND- HAVING FAM-H IN THE PEOPLES CONTINUED GENEROUS PATRONAGE, I have stocked my 24 feet of metal cases WITH EXTRA LINES -IN- kricu Watelies, Claiis -AND- CLIPPINGS.
