suggested minimum prices were recom mended for 1955 seeding oxvts commercial no 1 grade 150 per bushel regis tered no 1 grade s175 per bus barley commercial no 1 grade 200 per bushel regis tered no 1 grade 250 per bus the above prices are based on retail sales of treated seed bags included at local ship ping points it is expected that due to demands based on merit some varieties will sell above these minimum prices losses to seed grain by rust and rain have been heavy this year over a wide area of the province particularly in east ern and northern ontario as well as in western canada and the united states supplies therefore are not too plentiful considering the large number of farmers who will require seed and growers would be well advised to arrange for their 1955 supply as soon as possible only varieties suitable to par ticular localities should be seeded in order to secure best results accordingly suitable quantities of recommended var ieties should be saved in order to avoid the possibility of feed grain being used as seed and the use of western feed grain as seed should be discouraged each year it becomes more important to buy by grade giving special attention to ger mination considering prices registered seed offers exception ally good value the seed marketing pub licity committee consists of representative growers from across the province together with orop editors mail binbrook ont nov 19 1954 mr chas nolan stouffville ont dear sin i read your editorial in the stouffville tribune of nov u back in model t days a 200- mile trip would be a long day and an exceedingly tiresome one i am not writing to contra diet that statement or to sug gest any corrections but 1 thought you might be inter ested in an account of a trip i and a voung man mack must ard took in a 1922 model t roadster thev were called then in aug 1923 we left strathaven about 15 miles southeast of owen sound on monday morning aug 20 going by st marys london windsor detroit toledo kind- lay and dayton to a place near wilmington ohio we left at 230 am and drove all that day all that night and until 630 am tuesday 2s hours one tire went flat six times four times reasonably near a filling sta tion but twice about two miles away i had bought two new tires before leaving and one of them had a rough spot inside that blistered and blew out the tube after i arrived i dis covered the trouble so 1 used one of the tubes for an inter- liner and we came home with out any trouble the highways were not mar ked then so clearly as now i tried to follow a road map but the map was not correct or i misunderstood it anyway we frequently went the wrong way i had installed a speed ometer on the car 1922 fords were not equipped with them and it registered 583 miles i checked the speedometer down there with my brothers dodge and it registered the same as his both for speed and mile age i drove the entire distance except 53 miles driven by my friend mack the last time i went down in 17 hours by bus from king city yours very sincerely rev w e smalley shorrv sheep ou ovine friends will be glad to know that in future they may be pared the undignified and chilly
