joanne bodendistel third in piano duet several other pupils obtained very high prepare for trade fair in september stouffville chamber of com merce will hold their second annual trade fair in septem ber of this year with tentative dates being the 2lth 25th and 2gth last years initial fair proved to be one of the finest shows ever staged in town and drew record crowds for three days a committee comprised of alf mole vh atkinson chas xolan and lloyd wel- fon chairman was named by the chamber of commerce at their regular meeting on thurs day night to begin organizat ion plans for this falls fair the total floor space was over subscribed for last year and there is a waiting list for any available space which may be dropped by exhibitors this year local editors guests of ford at new oakville plant mrs j r cutt of orillia has been visiting with mrs geo lee for a few days mrs cutt is the former edna mckinnon and was a member of the high school staff here some years ago the regular meeting of the garrett evening auxiliary of the stoulfville united church will be held in the church par lours on wednesday may 20th at 8 pm a fine program has been planned and the mission ary bale will be on display in the sunday school room all the ladies are invited to attend the may j8th holiday pass ed very quietly in stouffville with the hardball tournament washed out by the intermit tent rain heavy traffic was noted commencing on saturday as hundreds of north country holidayers took the stouffville route across country a great many local folks were out of town during the weekend and except for the family fire cracker parties all was very peaceful it proved more of a day off than a holiday as there were few patriotic observances which are supposed to accomp any holidays this fact was possibly due to the juggling of the holiday from its right date to make the long weekend and also that many communities are planning large celebrations on coronation day your exhibits are needed to make the spring flower show a success on monday may 25 in the united church base ment miss kathleen jackson one of the local telegram carriers was a winner in a recent con test for their carriers six bus loads of boys and giris were ta ken to niagara falls and buf falo over the victoria day veek end highlight of the trip was a visit to the us naval air base where an air show was put on for the carriers after wards they inspected the planes and had lunch at the station the may meeting of the w m s was held in the united church parlours with the pres ident mrs fairies in charge the treasurer reported 9950 received from the easter meet ing mrs winterstein presided for her group and mrs ball gave an interesting regime of the work of the united nat ions followed by mrs smales whose devotional was a con tinuation along the line of un ited nations scripture- reading 1st cor 1618 and mathew 25 chap prophesy of our lord a duet by mrs campbell and mrs stouffer was enjoyed mrs
