iations regarding a supply of water from ajax to pickering village the discussion disclosed several important facts one was that though the potential gallonage capacity per day of the ajax pump ing station was a million and a half gallons in practice a million gallons was just about the limit without installing a new feeder main from the pump house to the stand pipe tank gordon gilchrist plant engineer said that in his opinion he would not want to increase the load on his equipment at the present time with an added main as the pro posed new industries added to the present daily consumption would tax the present equipment to capacity it was also disclosed that a sur vey was under way by omhc engineers to determine what in creases in the plants capacity would be required in the near future and estimate the cost of such increases it was further understood that the ajax board of trustees would require a zoning plan on the bor ders of ajax in the event that a water agreement could be arrang ed trustee mills pointed out that whitby and pickering had a joint planning board to recommend certain control of land use but ajax had never been invited to sit in on any of the discussions it was therefore arranged that at the next meeting of the pianning board the ajax board of trustees would be invited to join in the dis cussions col tiger welsh the honourable arthur welsh provincial the voting on the proposed marketing scheme for eggs which was held last thursday friday and saturday was reported to be extremely light in this district results of the provincewide vote are expected to be released from toronto within the next week the light vote was said to be reflected across the province sponsored by the federation of agriculture the vote was taken under the provincial farm pro ducts marketing act it would if it carries clear the way for the establishment of an egg marketing scheme by producers which would give them control of the market ing of their eggs the vote was sought as a wor sening export situation indicated a glowing surplus of eggs with a resulting reduced domestic prices poultry men are cut off from uk markets because of the inter national exchange situation and exports are well down to the united states because of growing domestic production therei there was no indication of how the vote would go generally a high majority is required to establish a marketing scheme be cause of the widespread effect on farm practices in view of the light vote supporters of the scheme are not optimistic while a unmarket ballot does not mean a no ballot as in other votes the fact that so few poultry growers voted will count strongly in the final decision many poultry men confessed an ignorance of the exact workings of the marketing scheme although organizers of the vote have held many meetings to discuss the marketing kcheme thirst knows no season drink em vmrviavwwvvvmvvvv through our committee for a school bus on a cooperative basis training will end early
