afternoon until thursday with mr and mrs mag nus morgan of belleville the fire brigade was called out around g30 sunday evening to extinguish a bush fire on the farm of mr ted appleby some of the legion were in stouffville and ajax on sunday afternoon taking part in the remembrance day parade mr and mrs win else and son arthur and friend of toronto were weekend guests of mr and mr ernest piikey john and judy of ashburn we are happy to report that miss mary morgan has been able to return to her position in toronto after an extended holiday due to her foot operation the united church sunday school christmas concert will be held on friday evening dec 15th in the church a good program is being planned the baptist ladies will dispose of homemade candy and a few articles left over from their successful bazaar last week on saturday nov 18 at 3 oclock in the sunday school room they realized 300 from the sale last week the wa of the united church will hold their annual bazaar in the sunday school room on satur day afternoon dec 9th instead of this saturday as advertised home made baking candy fancy work and practical articles including quilts aprons etc and a fish pond afternoon tea will be served the date again dec 9th at the united sunday school the recently organized young peoples is held each monday even ing either in a home or the united church sunday school room the response of the young people of the community in join ing this new organization is very gratifying but there is room for everyone and it is hoped that no one will miss this opportunity of cherry- wood united church and a choir member he was also a member of the school board and an active worker in the home and school a unique and pleasant presenta tion was made by the women of cherrywood united church recently mrs wm judd and mrs wm j petty were presented with lifemembership certificates in the womens association of the united church of canada these two ladies are sisters and have been active members first of the methodfst church and then in th united church in this small but enterprising village of cherry- wood tlie unusualness of the fac that two sisters should be hon oured in this manner at one time in one organization was noted by the dominion council of the wa of the united church from which was received a letter of congratu lations and good wishes along another class to train projec tionists will be getting underway this week in claremont and any one interested in learning to oper ate this equipment will be wel come there is no charge but the course
