i1wum 1 ill sitting in regular session on sat urday afternoon passed a new pay scale for all road department employees giving approximately a 10c an hour increase for all types of workmen grader and tractor operators will now receive 90c per hour road foremen 80c and labourers 70c truckers will now be paid s2 an hour and road supt davis will receive an annual salary of 2100 which is an increase of 100 the matter of pay increases was brought befoie council at the last meeting and some thought was given the projected increases be fore the new scale was passed on saturday council voiced the opinion that in view of the rates being paid in other municipalities the increased cost of living and the satisfactory work being done by the road staff the men were entitled to an increase increases were also mooted for the office staff but this matter was laid over till a later date messrs sharpe and hope repre senting the wilcox lake rate payers interviewed council with a view to having more grading done on the lake road mr sharpe reminded council some action in this regard had been promised in the spring he pressed for some work to be done on the ditches to alleviate the water sit- amounted to 111000 which in cluded an item of 217400 to frank roberts for gravel and 500 for new culvert pipe the award given by township fence viewers on a line fence be tween the elton armstrong and
