the township hall at goodwood on monday to nominate candidates for the incoming council and to hear matters of interest to the rate payers at the close of nominations the following persons had been named as candidates for election to coun cil for reeve stuart ball walter beach and isaac catherwood for deputyreeve berton tin dall for council wendell alcock bruce beach luther booth ralph faulkner and russel feasby a public meeting was held after nominations closed and the mem bers of the present council gave an account of their stewardship during the year although taxes have reached an alltime high for this township very little criticism was offered as most ratepayers realize that municipal councils have not much control over expenditures after the county public and high school levies are paid there is not very much left for the council to expend on the needs of the municipality the township balanced its budget with a tidy surplus remaining mr lome tindall who is the township representative on the high school board addressed the meeting on high school matters and while some were inclined to criticize this new move he explained that when the plans for the future were fully developed he did not think that the expense to the municipality would be any greater than under the old system the following candidates quali fied for election for reeve isaac catherwood for deputyreeve berton tindall for council wendell alcock ralph faulkner and luther booth ebbbapaaaosssssaooossaootsxi open days at spoffords next week we ask the general public to make a note of the
