mechanical planter this machine drawn by a cater pillar tractor digs a wider furrow than the plow and is capable of handling eight thousand trees a day of eight hours it requires only the help of three men one to drive the tractor on to lift the saplings from a pail of water to another workman that places them in the furrow as the machine proceeds at a pace similar to that for tractor plowing the planter used in whitchurch on county reforestation lands is owned by the department and is used mostly on much larger pro jects however help was not avail able and the outfit enabled many acres to be reforested that other wise would have gone unplanted frances laikson of stouffville was one of the 39 graduating at western hospital toronto last week and distin guished herself by winning a down to a place near ottawa where it will be titled up with the equipment that will con vert it into a modern tire lighting machine the council decided at a special meeting on saturday after noon to add ten ply tires instead of eight ply which will make for greater safety- the added cost is 174 it is expected that the new machine will be in operation within another thirty days one month later than previously promised the fire department will service the east side of whitchurch township under contract with that municipality similar to the arrangement made with the town of aurora to service the west side of the township takes honors in dentistry w r thompson son of mr and mrs a g thompson of stouffville has been successful in passing his examinations in third year den tistry at the university of toronto mr- thompson took honors and was one of the top nine students in the third year class legion news there will be a general meeting on tuesday june 24 at 830 in the oddfellows hall the water shut off at the corner of dunns garage and when it became necessary to shut off the water there on monday morning to make a connection for the new house being erected nearby for geo patton
