health the melville united church wa met on wednesday afternoon last at the home of mrs painter with a good attendance of members and visitors the president mrs h fori ester cor ducted the programme and the topic was taken by mrs a j orr at the close of the meeting light lefreshments were served by the hostesses mrs painter and mrs lehman the melville ypu met in the chuich on friday evening and a very interesting missionary program was given by the committee eileen and muriel kerswijl musical selections isobel of plattsville also mrs agnes loke and mildred of gait visited were sven by velma orial service will be held on junel3 in case of rain the service will be held in the church much sympathy is expressed to mrs wm gray and her family in the death of her aged husband last week the yp will hold their next meet ing at miss edna beelbys home on june sth the ontario and quebec conven tion of baptist churches will be held in toronto june 7 to 11th at the college st baptist church the dele gates chosen to represent the green river church are miss kathleen gos- tick and mrs thos williams mrs alfred michell entertained the ladies aid last wednesday af ternoon with the newly elected pre sident llrs draper in the chair misses mary carter and hazel michell sang nicely and a paper was given on the word for roll call by the retiring president the next meeting will be on june 23rd at mrs forsyths home after a short illness wm gray died at his home greenriver last week in his soth year born in new castle england on feb 2s 1s55 he came to canada when 24 years of age and settled in
