king for instituting a cut in liquor busi ness when by a standing vote the convention authorized the following resolution whereas our prime minister rt hon w l m king has assured us of his stand on the temperance question resolved that this convention ex press their appreciation of his atti tude and further encourage a pro gram of education along this line and that a copy of the resolution be sent to mr king the sessions held last thursday in the united and lutheran churches at unionville were well attended it was the 74th annual gathering and was opened by the president at the morning session reports from the various departments were given and discussions followed these proved very interesting and informative it was felt that the need in markham township was a re turn to the sunday schools hence a resolution was adopted to sponsor a movement for back to the sun day school during lent a special campaign is to be carried on to in crease the sunday school attendance as much as possible for the afternoon session there were two speakers dr i h erb and rev c e cragg both of toronto dr erb gave a masterly address on christ and the apostles he pointed out that the first disciples had to learn some things that we in our day must learn also the six things mentioned were selfdenial service faith humility tolerance and patience dr cragg spoke on the subject christ and the child and stressed especially in his message that our boys and girls should be shown their need of christ when yet in their early youth dr cragg stated that many of the members of his church in afternoon session was in progress in the united church rev and mrs norman rowan were conducting a childrens service in the lutheran church this church was packed to capacity and a very enjoyable and
