bereaved bolender home here it was just the day after the biggest storm of the winter so that to reach our village it was necessary to travel from stouffville to markham village and across no 7 glad to see him able to fill the supt chair again the church and sunday school switched to war saving time for the duration mr and mrs roy morley and grant also mrs w g morley were sunday guests with mr and mrs harry west for dinner wesley church and its various branches are holding a concert at vandorf hall on the 25th of feb they will canvas the community and the tickets are 25 and 15c and will be removed to the new market hospital with blood poison ing we wish her a speedy recovery the york county jr farmers skating carnival is being held this thursday evening at richmond hilt arena all in costume are asked to be on the ice before 930 jr farmers will hold a crockinole euchre and dance in the community hall on wednesday february 25 ladies please provide gents 25c rev and mrs mckay were very happy to see their son sergt ross mckay who arrived home on sunday from overseas although still under the doctors care ross is not hurt as badly as thought and we hope that he will soon be completely recovered from his accident we are sorry to report that mrs elliot mcciure formerly of this dis trict and now living in oakville is in the womens college hospital tor onto having undergone two opera tions we are pleased to hear she is recovering nicely and hope she will soon be around again the ypu held national night- program sunday night the topic took the form of a quizz oh work in belleville this summer a number of the institute girls met last thursdayand quilted two quilts and also finished one for the war unit several of the girls also had a stand at mr bennetts salo on saturday where thoy sold coffee hot dogs etc in aid of war work the many friends of mrs reuben stiver of the 5th line were saddened to hear of her death on wednesday or last week funeral service was held from her late residence on sat urday followed by interment in the lutheran cemetery unionville our deepest sympathy is extended to her husband and relatives or maybe wish for that cool breeze baxter last week the next quilting will be held all day in the church on wednesday february 18 mr and mrs don storry and child ren have returned to their homo- in callander after mr storry had been in toronto for the past six weeks undergoing an operation glad to note that he is quite recovered the sympathy of this- community is extended to rev and mrs davis and family of stouffville in the pass ing of their son sergt pilot george davis who died in active service in england the monthly ladies aid meeting was held at the home or mrs arthur storry the vice president mrs cliff lemon was in the
