at the home of mrs stanley boynton mrs frank collins gave the talk on the study book quilt blocks for making up were handed oift at this meeting the regular monthly meeting of the mission circle will be held in the form of a picnic at mr l l nichols flats on thursday afternoon august 21st at 2 pm ladies are asked to provide dishes and the lunch every one in the community is invited to attend there was a good attendance at the jr farmers and institute meet ings held on tuesday evening of last week at the girls meeting mrs bruce wallace gave an interesting short talk on the motto while our district pres mrs redpath of scar- boro gave us a fine talk on the urgent need of taking up first aid work and how wo women can help in this war a contest was conducted by mrs martin styrmo the speaker for the boys meeting was mr john wickett of thorn hill at the joint mooting the pro gram consisted of readings by miss ruby avison instrumental by mr george wellman and contest by misses irene beatty and marlon boston the club paper was read by mrs bruce wallace another inter esting feature of the evening was a presentation to two recently married couples in the community namely mr and mrs james smith and mr and mrs herb nelson mrs marcus jarvls read the address to mr and mrs smith while mr ross middlcton made the presentation of a living room table and tablo lamp and envelope of money at halifax and is a mem ber of a destroyers crew which is hunting submarines out from that harbour imrs maria quantz is visiting with friends at aurora we hear dr mitchell is taking the united services at unionville during the next few weeks the young people took charge of the church service on sunday even ing miss evelyn filyer and miss florence brownsberger gave ex cellent addresses
