miss evelyn gooding had tea with miss edith hoover on monday evening mrs green and daughter of toronto had tea with mr and mrs redshaw recently mr and mrs britnall and daughters of toronto were sun day evening guests of mr and mrs harvey moyer mr and mrs redshaw and family visited with his brother mr ed redshaw in uxbridge sunday afternoon misses margaret and kay moyer spent an enjoyable time in the barkey home near ring- wood sunday evening in the absence of our sunday school superintendent mr win timbers his assistant mr wes wideman took charge of the school he invited miss dor is lott to tell a story to the children and everyone enjoyed it taking stock of all the jars that have been filled with fruit and pickles the silos filled with corn and the root cellars that are receiving their mclntyre broth er of the bride was at the organ the bride was given in marri age by her uncle m o bulman wearing a gown of ivory satin and lace her veil was caught with a white cornet she carried a orchestra will supply special music between forty and fifty of the neighbours gathered at the kirk home on friday night to enjoy a social evening games were played out on the lawn then all went in the house to try their skill with contests and games there were some musi cal numbers both on the piano and guitar lunch was served we take this opprotunity of thanking mr and mrs kirk pine orchard mr and mrs willis widdifield of stouffville spent sunday with the misses widdifield mr and mrs herb stevens eileen and beverly spent the weekend with mr and mrs gordon stevens several in the community have started pulling their car rots they are being trucked to r e brown stouffvile mr and mrs charles bran don mr and mrs percy hutch inson harold and verne motor ed to warkworth saturday night to visit their sister mrs mcfarland a large crowd of friends and neighbours gathered at home of mr and mrs fred reid on wednesday night and present ed them with an occasional chair and a radio table mr james hope read the address while walt johnston and doug hope made the presentation the community wish mr and mrs reid every success for the future gormley myrtle steckley ms returned to toronto where she will be employed at housework for the winter mr and mrs jos cober and harold spent the weekend with relatives at stayner and cpllingwood rev mr irwin pastor of the lemonville united chuich ad dressed the young peoples group at the mennonite church on monday evening j r steckley a member of the faculty of ontario bible school and rhoda winger a student there spent the weekend at their homes a butler of toronto the first regular young peoples meeting was held on monday october 2 the meet ing was in charge of the chris tian fellowship convener miss erma dowswell and her splen did program was enjoyed by all 22 members were present a meeting of the young people was held on monday sept 25 and the following officers were elected president e foskett secretary w stew art treasurer d wagg pian ist e bryan the conveners for the various groups are christian fellowship e dows well missionary e m fraser citizenship and current events e taylor social l tindall and d cooper on friday evening sept 29th mr john rae opened his new garage in our town with a good concert with moving pic tures put on by the goodyear tire company which was pleas ing to all after which the floor was cleared and every one who could dance did so to their hearts content to the music 0 the well known baxter dance orchestra during the evening mr walter davey of toronto one of our good goodwood old boys and who is all for any thing that will improve the town presented mrs rae with a bouquet of carnations and mr john rae with a palm olive shaving set and for the spot in the dance mr elwood baston and his partner miss verna pilkin won the bouquet of flowers presented by the gen eral motors of oshawa and all told the evening was a huge success with the building pack ed all the time until the wee sma hures o th mornin the rae family reserve great credit for the erection of such a mag nificent building in our town on monday october 2 a very pleasant time was held at the home of mr and mrs charles lee on the 50th anniversary of their wedding when the entire family were present accom panied by their husbands and wives and children and seven grandchildren in the evening some friends arrived from tor onto and after all had partaken of the good things provided mr walter davey of toronto took charge of the evening and act ed as chairman when several were called on for speeches and with mrs lome wagg officiat ing at the piano a number of old time pieces were played and sang by the gathering when the groom was called on for a few words all joined in singing hes a jolly goodfellow the gathering
