lists if your name appears on the new list you have a vote at the forthcoming dominion election but if perchance your name is omitted therefrom then you have no vote and no redress whatever the onus was on the individual voter to see that his or her name was on the no names polling division original list list before the last date to receive applications as there are 2354 names to add to the new lists and only 4 26 to be struck off the increase over the old list compiled in 1934 is 212s several polling division in the southern part of the district had no changes whatever while in other took place on thurs day of mrs christina iraymer widow ot rev christian raymer wellknown mennonite pastor in her eightysecond year she had been in failing health for some time and two weeks ago she met with a slight accident she was a direct descendent of abraham stoufier after whom the village of stouffville took its name while her husband was the descendant of abraham raymer also a pioneer settler and head of one of the largest families who still com memorate their forebears with an annual reunion the marriage thus united two of the earliest families to settle in markham and stouff- ville her husband predeceased her two years ago and there now survive threo daughters mrs ed hoover altona mrs b e wiancko toron to and miss bertie also of toronto and an adopted son leslie of a family of nine children horn to the late abram stouffer there survives live namely abram on the homestead adjoining stouffville and mrs simeon hoover mrs martin wideman mrs jacob head way atd miss motored to kitchener for sunday to attend the camp meetings in progress there they returned via milverton on tuesday and brought back mrs harvey reesor and two children who will be staying with her mother mrs elias stover for a time mrs t w klinck and grand children phyllis and kenneth are visiting with her daughter mrs m clark near peterboro the clarks were in town recently attending the klinck reunion at tho old homestead now the home of r f klinck of victoria square all the living children of mrs and tho hue t w klinck dr l s of vancouver it f of the square mrs f c row- botham and ii o of this village and lmrs clark peterboro as well as most of the members of the younger generations were present the only member of the family absent c r late of the oao guelph has been deceased some thirteen years a popular park the attractiveness of memorial park as a summer camp is gaining ground and those who go there for a picnic invariably return another time during the last week three picnics were held there the one on saturday bringing about 100 sun day school children from ikev s goudies church toronto un- lortnnately the weather was not suitable but by their facos and cheery hurrahs the youngesters en joyed every minute of their visit in the country the farm home of mr and mrs herman mortson victoria square was the scene of a pretty wedding when their sister imiss mildred viola collard daughter of tho late air and mrs joseph collard was married to mr john harvey king son of the late mr and mrs andus king standards of white and pink peon ies ferns formed an effective set ting for the ceremony which was held in the garden rev frank gilbert officiated the wedding music was played by mrs herman fawcett and during the signing of the register imiiss margaret mccague sang the bride who was given in marriage by her brother dr charles collard was charming in a gown of ivory satin fashioned on long prin cess lines the neckline was a soft cowl and tho sleeves were long and tight she wore a veil of bridal net embroidered with chenille which had been worn also by her sister she carried a shower bouquet of butter fly roses and babys breath flower girls were little miss jay mortson and margaret mortson nieces of the bride who carried oldfashioned nosegays after the ceremony the uests were received in the garden where mr and mrs herman imortson and mr and mrs norman king re ceived with the bride and groom after the wedding breakfast the bride and groom left for a motor trip to the gaspe peninsula and atlantic coast for travelling the bride wore a yellow suit of silk linen trimmed with brown a yellow felt hat and yellow and brown accessories great 1w1rling earl cook turned in a wonder ful performance last week when he pitched the toronto maple leafs and herb spofford following a serious illness over a little more than two weeks the death occurred at 1020 oclock on friday evening of mr hamilton a- nigh at the home of his daughter mrs margaret frizzell 951 0th ave east owen sound he had not been enjoying good health for quite some time but it was only two weeks ago that he was taken seriously ill and compelled to take to his bed death was due to infirmities of old age the late mr nigh celebrated his 91st birthday on may loth last he was bom in markham township the son of the late imlr and mrs johnathan nigh he moved to syd enham township near strathaven more than 00 years ago and for nearly half a century was one of the best known farmers in that com munity highly esteemed and looked upon as a cultured christian entleman a kind neighbor and successful farmer since 1918 he has made his home in owen sound with his daughter mrs frizzell since coming here his sight failed him and for the past eight years he has been totally blind and affliction which he bore with patient forti tude and resignation he had al ways been a close student of the scriptures and was well versed in them the prayer meetings held at the home of his daughter were features of the latter years of his life he was a baptist and belong ed to the south sydenham baptist church at strathaven and attended the first baptist church in owen sound his wife predeceased him more than 40 years and he is sur vived by two daughters mrs margaret frizzell and mrs j s robertson both of owen sound he also leaves six grandchildren and six great great grandchildren a son jack nigh died 26 years ago cyclyone hits bethesda during the terrific rain storm which passed over whitchurch township on saturday afternoon a cyclone set down on the bethesda locality tearing the roof from the church sheds and depositing a portion of it over on the property of robt wilson merchant a distance religious camp will swell local population with the churches the roof lifted state that the entire covering was raised from the building at once part of it falling back from where it was lifted fields of grain have been badly mauled and twisted and some of it will preacher he will be supported by vocalists i including miss yeo and miss snider i the kitchen and sleeping tents will be pitched west side of the park under the trees while meetings will he held in the arena which will save bringing the large tabernacle tent here water and lights will be available observe the law man is found dead beside car stouffvillo inquest cancelled pastor retires after 37 years rev robert young has preached his farewell sermon on the hom ings mill circuit of the united church and with mrs young arrived in town last week to take a well earned rest after thirty seven years in the ministry while their new home on north church street is being completed mr and mrs young will take the opportunity to visit old friends and indeed they have been offered furnished homes but their own will shortly he ready for them in tho meantime their furniture is at homings mills where there is a spacious manse rev mr young commenced his ministry in the presbyterian charge at packenham the birth place of his wife but more than mrs young roll in love with him there for mr young remained on the charge for eleven years he occupied other charges in the kingston district prior to being allied to stouffville in 191s where ho preached in st james for seven years and was associate pastor in tho united church for one year after union mr young is a man of fine ideals and pleasant disposition and stouffville is delighted to welcome both mr aijd mrs ypting on their return to locate in our midst prior to leaving the charge at homings mills they were showered with kindness and remembrances after intimating his desire to retire this july mr young was urged by the board there to remain another year a victim of carbon monoxide gas the body of w douglas 113 glou cester grove york township who figured in a fatal motor accident at bloomington over two weeks ago lay beside his car in a field in north york for at least 10 hours yester day before it was reported to police he was found reclining on the rumble seat cushion at the rear of the car strapped to the bumperette nd with a heavy rubber tube lead ing from the exhaust pipe to a point close to the face in the rumble seat were mr douglas crutches he had only one leg three weeks ago mr douglas was involved in an accident on the road from stouffville to musselmans lake in which william mckay of toronto was killed and tt is be lieved that lie had been worrying considerably the inquest has been ordered on this case has heen cancelled as a result of this second death douglas body was found just off finch ave west between the fourth and fifth concessions the car having been hacked off the road into a field it was noticed by some boys as early as 1030 in the morning and also by mrs apperley downsview but it was thought he was just re pairing his car at 715 last night mrs apperley was driving past again and seeing him still there notified north york police motorists in stouffville would do well to drive at a proper speed in town during june six summonsus were issued for speeding and reck less driving convictions being registered in all cases two more were summoned saturday last too many motorists look upon the line road through stouffville as a mere speedway resulting in numerous accidents picnic date change the institute picnic announced for wednesday july 17 in this issue has december the rate was ultimately struck at thirtythree and a half mills being one mill below the 1934 rate when it was 34 mills it was the regular meeting of the council for july and all members were present when councillor wel- don introduced tho matter of hav ing a tarvia top built on tho road way along the 10th concession from stouffville to liiicolnville a dis tance of 2 miles the condition of this road he said was anything but satisfactory and scores of people were going other places to transact business to the detriment of stouffville rather than travel through the dirt and dust of the heavily travelled highway it is the only piece of road left unfinished by the toronto and york road commission in this locality and would if built of tarvia induce ontario county to continue tho sur- face over their roadway to good wood councillor weldon submitted a strong resolution which was seconded by councillor walter brilllnger imploring the com mission to give this piece of road some consideration when the next estimates were being struck the council unanimusly supported tho resolution a copy of which will he forwarded to the commission also to whitchurch township council and morgan baker mpp councillor ross e brown asked for 300 for new sidewalks this year and said there was a keen de mand for new walks in various sections of the town in striking the tax rate 250 was provided for this work with- tho understanding that mr browns committee could transfer from tho road appropria tion and apply it on walks mr brown was also requested to tnko up the mattor of street cloanlng with the contractor with a view of having the pavement cleaned ofton- er the new town cop constable quibcll had receipts turned in that indicated he was regulating traffic by enforcing the law he was in structed to press down on all arrears for dog tags and keep a lookout for new dogs being brought into town unlicensed it was suggested that the south side of main street in the downtown business section should be marked off for angle parking to truck was turned in at an allowance of 184 clerk j s dougherty announced that relief expenditures for the six months ending june 30 amounted to 69745 two thirds of which will be returned to the municipality by the ontario government only one family is getting relief at the pre sent time tho clerk also read a letter rrom the ontario hydro commission to tho effect that in future the hydro books of the corporation should bo audited by the appointed auditors of tho municipality any audit made by the hepc was for their own private purpose
