paisleys passenger ear at the foot of tiie garabaldi hill paisley was travelling south along the second concession when he was struck crossing the intersection at the foot of the hill mcdonalds counterclaim for 69 was dismissed the case was heard ill court m uxbridge before his honor judge smock um of pelerboro mr f i button kc conducting the prose cution for paisley while mcdonald was defended by a couple of legal men from toronto who were under stood to be acting in the interest of the company in which mcdonalds truck was insured numerous witnesses were heard on both sides but tile prosecution largely rested its case on the ad mission of mcdonald that he was travelling around 35 miles per hour going down this hill and mr button strongly impressed the court with the actual law on the matter which allowed only 12 miles per hour in addition paisley and bill harding who was in the formers car both testified that they had come to a stop before entering the intersection and proceeded across the road alter seeing the hill was clear mr button pointed out that at the speed he contended mcdonald was travelling he came over the brough of the hill fa distance of 360 feet down up a heap of space the attendance at school church and sunday school in the past week was very pronounced owing to this and the very cold weather we hope for the early recovery of all those in flicted at this time this week witnessed the opening of the ice harvest at almira pond messrs b gayman and h spofford are swinging into action lustily en deavouring to keep apace with orders the sudden drop that our very efficient road foreman mr arthur buchanan approached the township council recently regarding snow fence to take care of the few badly drifted points in this section a very few rods of this fence would be ample and would bo the means of saving a great deal of lost time and expensive clearing costs fortunate ly so far we have been lucky in re gards to the weather perhaps that is the
