in their resignations forth with dr freel and l turner moved and seconded the resolution and the chairmain drball asked for the yeas and nays which wore record ed as follows for the resolution dr freel lloyd turner ambrose stover against dr ball jw momullen edward baker another member of the board was not at the meet ing any changes to be made in the staffs must be done at this time according to the contracts under which all the teachers are working requiring 30 days notice before june 30 while two teachers were singled out for dismissal the entire staff came in for an average share of criticism one rumor was that a teacher had placed a tack on every seat in the room sort of retaliat ing for the many placed on the teachers chair to a complaint that a teacher was allowing outside matters to interfere with school duties none of these rumors were really substantiated still thoy were reported and some of them are to be further investigated the definite complaints against jthe two teach ers dismissed were not clearly defined other than that a change was desirable on the staff the continuation schoil staff did not come under the scrutiny of the board special meeting held dr ball chairman at the request of dr freel and members of the board called a special meeting on tuesday evening to clarify the in tent of the resolution dismissing the teachers so as to make the dismissal operative as of june 30 and not forthwith when the meeting called to order dr freel was in formed by the chairman that he had gone to the secretarys office and taken copies of the resolution and mailed them to the two teachers concerned i mailed them myself said dr ball ill have legal notice served on you tomorrow for involving this board you had no right to take that correspondence from the secretarys office said dr freel under somel heat you promised me to call this meeting to rectify the wording of the resolution why did you rush the notices off before this was done you certainly didnt cooperate he concluded dr ball i acted according to instructions on minute book if you want to know my feelings it was a balled headed resolution i ordered thoso letters posted and the secretary didnt do it so i did it my self x freel the clerk used good judgment in holding the letters back the chairman said a resolution to amend was in order and could bo sent on tho amendment carried with the chairman supporting it which struck from the original resolution the word forthwith and added thereto to become effective june 30 thus the revised resolu tion reads that miss loyst and miss ross be asked to tender their resignations to become effective on june 30 1934 for tho resolution freel turner stover and ball against mcmullen the chairman explained that he voted for the amendment because it was necessary only to keep the board within legal bounds but in so doing did not wish it construed that ho acquesced in the original motion in any way the amendment corrects any legal technicality
