residence 1015 veterinary when mr martin wideman pass ed to the great beyond at his farm home on the sth concession of markham on saturday morning may 0 1933 it wax as if one whoso life had reached back into the early days connecting the first settlers with the present generation had gone to his long home martin wideman was horn and lived all his lite right on lot 2s rear of concession 7 markham in the fine stone structure erected by his father he was horn on the 2nd day of april in the year 1s52 and was therefore slyears of age just a month ago he was the seventh child of a family of nine children horn to henry wideman and his wife elizabeth hoover who died in 1ss3 and 1s97 respectively with the passing of martin hut one other child of this pioneer parent- iage survives being susanna widow of samuel hoover the aged lady who was s4 years of age on the 19th of january last is living with one of her sons anthony hoover on a neighboring farm to the old home stead the deceased is the third genera tion removed from the parent hooverwideman stock which mi grated from germany in 1704 then ludwig hoover left germany for the united states settling in lan caster penn he had four sons one christian hoover married maria troyer in 1787 they had seven children the youngest of whom was elizabeth who in turn married henry wideman father of the sub ject of this sketch the late martin wideman is sur vived by his wife who was fannie stouffer daughter of pioneer parents who settled at stouffville and by six children being joseph and wilmot the eldest two both living near didshury in alberta herbert of dicksons hill mrs wilmot schell mabel of markham v jirs clarence bolender martha of bethesda and wesley the youngest who is living on the homestead a deacon in the dickson hill mennonite congregation for long years and a man of high moral worth he remained steadfast in the faith of his fathers he was a successful farmer and was generally liked by all who knew him in the eventide of life he took a keen de light in dwelling on spiritual thought and looked forward with confidence to the day when he would readily answor the greatest of all calls from his lord and master the tremendous crowd which at tended the funeral on monday after noon to dickson hill church and cemetery was a compliment to his york ontario jeacrosse leaguj3 june a meeting of he yorkontario
