caused some delay citizens of tho village chiefly busi ness and professional men have contributed almost live hundred dollars to date in order to com plete the financing so keen were these local bodies for the theatre that with the exception of three re fusals every one approached on tho matter pledged from 10 to 25 mr and mrs sid schmidt who are ventureing a considerable sum of money in tho enterprise are greatly encouraged and as they intimated some weeks ago were ready to pro ceed with the undertaking provid ed the people backed them for at least 500 it is the intention of the schmidts to purchase the old auditorium theatre and build the picture house on the ground floor the plans involve the removal of the present upper floor building a cement floor on the ground where the pool room and bowling alloys are now operated every attention will he given to sound effect and the sweeping high ceiling will add materially to this retiring rooms for ladie3 and men with spacious entrance or rotunda will be provided it is estimated that at least a month will be required for the con tractor to make the necessary changes hence even if the canvass ing for funds is completed this week and the deal rushed through for the building now held under option it would probably be the middle of january or later before the open ing could be announced there is a keen desiro on the part of business men to see a real movie in operation because such an attraction would draw good night crowds to town while other citi zens claim that such entertain ment in our midst obviated the necessity of our young people driv ing to other centres so much as they now do to attend picture shows monday evening was an eventful and important night among the local oddfellows it being the occa sion of the
