stanley cup tallies but it is doubtful it more ex citing hockey will be played in the big town centres than that which has been put on at the stouffville arena during the past three weeks in the mail scramble for the gold watches emblematical of the district cham pionship wednesday night saw the climax of series when the auirora junior oiia squad clashed witli the powerful markham intermediate team and sent the green and white waiuiors down to defeat by a 2 1 score both teams had worked their way to tlie finals by clean clever classy hockey but the wise boys all figured that max reesofrs husky experienced out fit of puck chasers would prove too much tor the light youngsters from vonge street the aurora kllds however were not afraid ot the reputation of their opponents and went into the game determined to cairry off the laurels of the tournament and in- cidentaly to take home the watches from the start of the game the aurora team tdre into their southern niivals with might and main and they had the edge on the markham team by a nice margin in the first period lunau in the mark ham net was called upon to make many sensational saves and he handled lover twice as many shots in this peniod than did bud gifford the aurora forwajrd line however didnt have their heavy artillery trained on the vulnerable spots and the period ended scoreless markham came to life with a vengeance in the second canter and led by the veteran reesor gave clifford plenty to do midway through the period percy flicker rushed from the defence and drawing williamson and reesor towards him flipped the puck across to yank davis on the left boards who coasted in on the markham goalie and made no mistake with the gutta percha markham came back strong but the closechecking of the aurora forward line held them at bay for the rest of the period the last period will long remain in the minds of the fans ftfr both teams gave everything they had and excitement was at a fever pitch early in tlie period bruce foote streaked down the right wing and plastered one at lunau who hand led the shot but failed to clear be fore davis banged the puck behind him for the second and last goal for aurora markham were now desperate and playing only one man on the defence they raised shot after shot on the aurora goal their efforts were partly rewarded when olaxreestor scored a goal following pringles pass out from behind the net backed up by the marvellous jroaltending ot gifford the aurora outfit chocked like hornets and play ing heady hockey held off the threats of the markham sextette until tlie final gong sounded for markham ilunau in goal was outstanding ho handled all the shots with nonchalance and had little chance on the shots that boat him the veteran max reesor was the villain of the tournament but it was ever so with colorful performers reesor played smart hockey both offensively and defenscively and every time he went down the ice herman giiroy and doc boulding lost pounds crosby and pringle were tlie pick of the forwards crosby has a very tricky style while pringle although rugged in style was very effective the rest of the team measured up well to the intermediate standard to single out any of the aurora team for mention would be to do his team mates an injustice as the boys were all good ringwood couple married 50 years t reesor wears same hoots as ou wedding that in one county in this province and he thinks it a fair average in connection with the estates of deceased persons dealt with by court officials only one in every three persons made a will the reasons assigned for this aire that it is re pugnant to the average man to think of liis own death and he hates to make his will on a sick bed as it would be an admission that he expected to die he is always looking forward to the time when he will be better ioff and doesnt know jut how he should dispose of his property the chief reason to our way of thinking is the old one of procastl- nation the making of a will is something men and women dont have to do like meeting a tax bill and so they put oft what they con sider is unnecessary until it is too late and impose a big expense on hieir heirs by making no will at all some of the shrewdest business men make no wills and some of them make a will that liligh court judges have a difficulty in interpreting we have in mind the will of a millionaire of this province whose will is now before the courts and may ultimately go to the privy council for final settlement this keen business man could put through deals that brought him largo returns but he made a fool of a will that is bringing in large re turns for lawyers then there are deathbed wills when the maker of the will is in fluenced by those who are in closest touch with him and those wills often lead to protracted lawsuits have you made your will if not do tt this week if you cant get to town conveniently write it out on a sheet of foolscap or oven in a scribbling book sign it as your last will and testament and havo one of your neighbors witness your signature and it will save a big oxponse o your family in lawyers fees and the will setting out the bencfilaries and the amount left to each will not be carried to a high court to bo understood a signed and witnessed will sotting out the benefllcaiies and bark in the woods held good in a legal test see your lawyer second read ing in the legislature was strongly opposed by members of the york county council in special session last friday it was the contention of mr ken nedy that a body of g2 men on a county council such as york was too unwieldy york county council however instructed wesley gohn markham chairman of the legislat ive committee to use every possible means to prevent the passage of the bill under the county council act of 19 08 which mr kennedy is trying to amend 1000 votes are required to entitle a township to send one representative to the council for 2000 votes a municipality is entitle ed to send two deputy reeves along with the reeve the bill provides for the number of votes for reeve to be raised to 1500 and for two deputy reeve to 3000 tlie idea of tho new bill is on tlie night lines and will meet with popular favor with the ratepayers all over ontario york county is also favorable to the principal but is opposed to certain contents of the bill in that it effects some muni cipalities which come within its scope while others will not have their representation cut at all among the churches baker hilii and sixth line baptist churches w s whltcombe ba pastor sunday
