davis are both of united empire loyalist stock mrs davis being the grand son of the late samuel davis mr and mrs davis were both born on yonge stret near aurora where they have lived the greater part of their lives mr james t davis is one of the few living fenian raid veterans a large number of rela tives and friends from a distance were present at the celebration and wished them many nore years of continuous happiness uxbridge old boys association held their annual picnic last satur day afternoon at high parktoronto when nearly three hundred former residents of the home town now living in the city were present an interesting part of the outing was atalktjy dr joseph bascom who was elected first mayor of uxbridge after the incorporation of the town in the early eighties also served for noon which was spent in a sociable way dr j e forfar trustee of the toronto board of education and a former resident of uxbridge was present at the picnic william j michell died at his late residence 16 st clair avenue east thursday afternoon july 17th after a lingering illness he was born at claremont ont in 1843 where he engaged in farming until 1900 when he moved to toronto he took a prominent part in munici pal polities and was for several years a member of the york township and county councils in politics he was a conservative he is survived by his widow who was mary story or claremont and four children jennie agues and helen at home and chas a of marmaduke street he is also survived by a sister mrs mary e scarr of 296 woodbine avenue and a brother frank l michell m a of perth ont on the 16th of dec- emberlast the late mr michell cele brated his golden wedding ernest bowkett 199 windermere avenue toronto was recommended for the position of police court clerk in the county police court by the york county commissioners at a meeting on thursday last this ap pointment is being made following the request of magistrate t hbrun- ton that he needed a clerk in his office to take the evidence in the police court and to look after the bookkeeping the york county council a few weeks ago passed a resolution instructing the county comers to make the appointment a large number of applications were received by the commissioners for the position and following very careful consideration mr bowkett was recommended this recom mendation will come before the on tario government in
