Chur Metroland file photo Stouffville United Music Concerts presents: Town CAO Pourvahidi dismissed after 7-month leave Ali RAzA aliraza@yrmg.com The CAO's been sacked! The town of WhitchurchStouffville has dismissed its chief administrative officer Marc Pourvahidi, effective Nov. 18, 2016. Council made the decision after an "in-camera" discussion at a meeting on Nov. 15. As a result, the town cannot release further details on the decision. Pourvahidi had been on administrative leave since late April due to a "personnel matter", as stated by the town press release. The duration of his leave was written as "unknown", effectively leaving the town without an official CAO for seven months. During his leave, the town had interim CAOs hold the post. "Council takes this situation very seriously," said town spokesperson Glenn Jackson. "And felt the process needed to be dealt with thoroughly." Pourvahidi's leave of absence - first stated as sick leave - followed a revelation that the town had an exodus of 30 employees from January 2015 to April 2016. Fire chief Rob McKenzie served as interim CAO for two weeks until leisure and community services director Rob Raycroft took over the role. Jackson confirmed the town has no plan to hire a new CAO "at this time." Pourvahidi was originally the town's former director of finance and was hired as CAO on May 5, 2015 after serving as acting CAO since March 2015. He replaced former CAO Andrew McNeely who was placed on administrative leave and eventually resigned on April 21, 2015. McNeely took the job from Dave Cash, who had been CAO since 2006. Cash unexpectedly retired in 2013. Council thanked Pourvahidi for his service to the town in the issued press release. 2 Christmas Classics Concerts featuring live vocal and instrumental performers and audience interactive participation including Pipe Organ, Shout Sisters Choir, Django Djunkies and more.
