COMMUNITY 19 | Stouffville Sun-Tribune | Thursday, October 27, 2016 Library seeks proposals for `Giving Tree' Ali Raza Let's Talk About: Family, aliraza@yrmg.com The WhitchurchStouffville Public Library is seeking proposals from the community for a "Giving Tree" it hopes to erect in the expanded library to recognize donors. The library is expanding from 13,000 square feet to 16,000 sq. ft at an estimated cost of $8 million, while an additional $1 million is planned for renovations of the existing space. Consequently, the library is seeking support from the community to meet a fundraising goal of $500,000 set by the board of trustees. Funds will be used to purchase upgraded furniture, children literacy computers, and equipment for the new "Maker Space" which includes 3D printers and digital recording equipment. The "Giving Tree" is the second part of the fundraising plan that asks families, individuals or businesses to donate $250 to have their name added to a leaf to be displayed with the tree in the new library. The fundraising committee has released a request for proposal to identify potential tree designs and providers. The proposal deadline is set for Dec. 31, 2016 and should be submitted to carolyn.nordheimer@wsplibrary.ca. The fundraising committee will select a proposal on Jan. 5, 2017. A design will be finalized April 1, 2017 and displayed in the new library on Dec. 1, 2017.
