The new facility is at 50 Innovator Ave. close to local schools and has a total capacity of 800 students with seven large studios. IMA was founded in 1996 in Markham and has since won many awards, including the Consumers' Choice Award for best music school in the GTA, the Royal Conser- vatory of Music Gold Medal for Teaching Excellence, the York Region Character Community Award and the Markham Board of Trade Business Excellence Award. Its Markham location, known as Mozart House, will operate in conjunction with the new Stouffville location, known as Beethoven House. The new facility offers private lessons in piano, violin, vocals, guitar, flute, clarinet, saxophone, French horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, drums, theory, history, har- mony, counterpoint, orchestral and choir conduction. Group lessons are offered in Suzuki violin, chamber music ensembles, jazz ensembles, choir, theory, history, harmony and counterpoint. The studios are wheelchair accessible and future development plans include a 100-seat recital hall. The school is open seven days a week.
