6 Stouffville Sun-Tribune | Thursday, September 22, 2016 | Popular doctor mourned by patients Longtime Stouffville doctor Peter Izso has died. His death occurred on Sunday, Sept. 18 at Toronto General Hospital. Izso was the husband of Agnes, father and father-in-law of Daniel and Denise, brother and brotherin-law of Eva and the late Charles Izso, and Adam and Shelley Borgida, grandfather of Adah and Ethan. His funeral took place at Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel in Toronto on Monday, Sept. 19 and he was buried at the Beth Emeth section of Dawes Road Cemetery. Izso was a doctor in the community for more than four decades, resulting in almost every family in town being directly or indirectly associated with him. On Facebook, many comments poured in on the "Stouffville Bulletin Board" group after residents learned of Izso's passing. "Dr. Izso was a big part of what Stouffville used to be," wrote Linda Chilvers. "He will be surely missed." Former Stouffville mayor Sue Sherban wrote "Dr. Izso was a big part of my family... he cared for me through all three of my girls' pregnancies...he spent many patient hours with my mother and was the first doctor my husband went to in Stouffville." `... it is going to be very hard to find a doctor even half what he was.' Resident Brian O'Sullivan wrote: "I am so very upset to hear this -- what a wonderful man -- kind -- an excellent doctor -- great sense of humour." Another resident, Kathy O'Neill, wrote: "Dr. Izso can never be replaced... it is going to be very hard to find a doctor even half what he was."
