Classic car damaged in Gormley fire A fire in Gormley was promptly put out by firefighters, but not before it scorched through a shed and car last week. Whitchurch-Stouffville Fire and Emergency Services responded to a grass fire at 14203 Woodbine Ave. Wednesday afternoon. No injuries were reported, but the grass fire quickly burned through a shed and a classic automobile. The estimated damage is still undetermined. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. But it originated at a neighbouring property, 14201 Woodbine Ave., fire officials said. "It (the fire) travelled along the farm field and set fire to the back of the neighbouring home," said Deputy Fire Chief Richard Renaud. The homeowner at 14203 Woodbine Ave. promptly called 911. "Extreme heat and high winds were problematic," Renaud said. "But we had great support from York Regional Police and York Region Paramedic Services." Fire officials would like to remind citizens to use caution when using fire outdoors.
