Whitchurch-Stouffville town council approved a motion to hire Diamond Schmitt Architects as a primary consultant for the Leisure Centre and Public Library expansion at council meeting last week. Currently, the project stands as a collaboration between Diamond Schmitt Architects, the town and the steering committee. The total cost of the project stands at $15 million, tax included. Diamond Schmitt was hired for the project at $947,150. The facility is located at Park and Hoover Park drives in Stouffville Memorial Park. At the council meeting, councillors Ken Ferdinands and Maurice Smith expressed concern that the project would be delayed, given the scale and size. "It seems like an unbelievable task to have the steering committee, the architect and construction manager all work together," Ferdinands said. "I don't want to see it fall behind," Smith said.
