Born in Newmarket, Ontario, he was the son of the late Patrick and the late Yvonne Kelly (nee Irwin). Dan's love of hard work, though modeled to him by his parents, really took hold when he started spending time on his Uncle Neil's farm in southwestern Ontario at age 13. It was farming that led him to obtain his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph. After some short stints in sales where he met his beautiful wife, he turned his passion for the land into a career in landscaping. As his health deteriorated he could not bring himself to give up `his lawns' and had a few customers he was devoted to til the last day. Dan was an avid reader and sports fan, especially the Dallas Cowboys. Dan was an immensely proud husband and father, his wife and son were his reason for being and gave him the strength to fight his disease. Surviving are his wife Ivana Stanislic Kelly, his son Neil Kelly, Stouffville, sister Elizabeth Kelly, nephew Connor Monk, niece Caitlin Bakker, Toronto and Waterloo; sister Maureen Acker (Richard Garnett) niece Madison Acker, nephew Rylan Acker, Victoria and Halifax; sister Suzy Rajeh, (Ahmad Rajeh), nephew Adnan Rajeh (Bayan), great-nephew Ahmad, niece Amyra Rajeh (Ali), greatniece Maryam, great-nephew Hasan, nephew Ismael Rajeh, and nephew Omar Rajeh, Calgary and London; brother Pat Kelly (Annie Imbault), nephew Colin Kelly, nephew Killian Kelly, niece Camille Kelly, Montreal; brother Liam Kelly, niece Grace Kelly, nephew Dylan Kelly, Richmond Hill; Dan had a great bond with his mother's family in the Strathroy area as he had spent so many of his formative years there, in particular Don and Carol Langford; he also had many fond memories of his Grace cousins, Dominick, Tim, Pat and Mary-Anne. Despite the language barrier, Ivana's family in Serbia and Dan had a very special bond and mutual adoration for each other, his time with them in Serbia and Canada brought him immense pleasure; Father-in-law Jugoslav, mother-in-law Javorka, brother-in-law Nebojsa (Nevena) nephew Petar and nice Mina, Serbia. Dan had been given a pup for his birthday this year, Marshall, they were the quintessential `boy and dog'.
