At a Council Education Workshop on April 29, 2014, Town Council and the Members of the Whitchurchâ€"Stouffville Public Library Board were updated on the proposed functional design in support of the expansion to the Leisure Centre/Public Library. Town C.A.0., Andrew Mc Neely, provided background information on the prevrous studies which identified the magnitude of space required to meet demands of the Community for the next 10 year period, and, the parameters that have shaped the functional design process. Next steps in the process from the current period through to 2017 were also identified and reviewed. Jarle Lovlin, of Diamond Schmitt Architects, provided an update on the functional design concept to support the proposed building expansion, complete with representative 3D visual images. Staff are currently working with the Architect on construction cost estimates and the implications on the design/ function of the building as proposed. Submission of a final report and recommendation to the Library Board will be made June 5 and to Town Council on June 24.
