It’s expected to serve riders from eastern Stouï¬ville and Uxbridge. The 'site, a former GO train storage yard, has 150 parking Spaces with room for more. It’s fully accessible. It's the seventh GO station opened by the McGuinty Liber- als, transportation minister Jim Bradley said at a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday. GO has 59 stations in the province. If you take York Regional Transit in Stouflville or beyond, you need to douâ€" ble check the schedule starting Sunday. More than 50 route and’ schedule changes will adjust and improve ser- vices across York Region. BY HM MASON Staff Writer Thank Dalton McGuinty for some road work com- ing soon to a street near you, Whitchurch-Stouffville. The province announced a $1.7 billion surplus, some of which will be spent on local roads, Monday. The big surplus is for the long list of infrastructure needs such as the roads, water supply, sewer systems, pavement conditions and sidewalks. York Region was handed about $53 million to update and maintain transit systems and affordable housing. ' The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville will réceive $880,000. It will be poured into roads at the discretion of town council, said Mayor Wayne Emmerson, who appreciated the money and its timing. 7 _ “It’s really good and ahead of schedule," he said. “Last year, we got this after our budget and our roads budget (were set). “We do have some issues with roads and this is welcome.†Don't expect the cash to cure all problems.
