by one family of orienteers sweden by one ex cellent runner and the united states by several runners in cluding teams from the army and the marines on saturday the relay competitions were held relay teams include three runners each of whom runs on the same course the first runner must suc cessfully complete the course he then gives his map to the second runner who completes the course and then gives the map to the third runner if all three runners com plete the course successfully their respective times are totalled and the team with the least total time is the winner in these relays our junior mens team of jim alty fred brazier and jim stevens placed 6th in sundays in dividual competitions our runners fared well on the yellow course our only young lady jane curtis finished 9th and jim stevens finished 5th on the harder red course jim alty placed 12th while fred brazier was 15th team captain bill giles used his skill and perception to finish 3rd on his course while larry schell running with a great deal of confidence also finished 3rd in his group both bill and larry won bronze medallions our best showing was by michael barry he ran the best course of his life and finished
