stouffville district secondary school is involved in her community communities in other countries and her school she was one of 20 students hon oured by the york region district school board for outstanding aca demic achievement and significant contributions to their schools and communities they were chosen from the approximately 100000 students in york region schools at the celebrating student success evening awards were presented to the students by board director bill hogarth and chairperson bill crothers a lifelong stouffville resident ms thompson brings her enthusiasm and caring to a wide field of interests she hops on a bus to downtown toronto to feed the homeless she will be running her first half- marathon shortly and is on the sdss mountain biking and golf teams she is also president of the schools athlet ic council the 17yearold leads the inter- school christian fellowship at sdss the regional municipality of york highway 404 midblock crossing between highway and 16th avenue municipal class environmental assessment schedule c notice of public consultation centre the regional municipality of york jointly with the town of richmond hill and the town of markham are undertaking a transportation and class environmental assessment study class ea to address the need for additional capacity across the highway 404 corridor between highway 7 and 16th avenue the thompson is concerned about the global community as well she visit ed trinidad in december to distribute shoe boxes filled with gifts for children as part of the samaritans purse project she led the initiative at sdss to encour age students to donate to operation christmas child to fill shoe boxes her work for children in other countries will lead her to a bible col lege in manitoba next fall for cultural studies and training in teaching english as a second language her goal is to teach english over seas she said before the end of the school year ms thompson would like to organize a penny drive to benefit covenant house a toronto youth shelter she has been inspired most by her art teacher catherine chartrand librarian judy mcknight and parents bill and louise staff photomike barrett
