extension of its emergency department the clinic is designed to service patients with less acute illness or injuries in a timely fashion with the intention to fast track the patients for quick assessment and appropriate treatments the clinic allows the main emergency department to focus on urgent and emergent cases how the clinic works is every person who walks into the hospital emergency department with an illness or injury is triaged by a nurse to determine the urgency of the persons medical problem if deemed appropriate by the triage nurse the patient has the option of being referred to the fast track clinic medical conditions such as earaches cough upper respiratory sore throat minor lacerations fractures and sprains can be cared for in the fast track clinic the fast track clinic team includes an emergency physician a nurse practitioner and a registered practical nurse patients who are referred to the fast track clinic have equal access to all hospital services such as diagnostic procedures eg xray laboratory tests and specialist consultations over the past two years the fast track clinic has helped alleviate the pressures in our main emergency department the usual 48 hours everything was quick and professional the fast track clinic was very helpful and quick the fast track clinic is located in the main lobby of the hospital beside the main information desk hours of operation are tuesdaysaturday from 2001000 pm sunday and monday from 12001000 pm emergency renovations the hospital emergency department will undergo renovations from march 22- june 2004 the renovations will help us to better serve our patients by providing more privacy for our patients and rooms with enhanced infection control work will be done on the resuscitation area suture rooms as well as the waiting room and triage area during the renovation period the number of rooms for patient assessment will be reduced and waiting times for patients may be affected we apologize for this a loved one yes a donation of a book from our wish list in memory of a loved one is a wonderful way to honor them a notation will be made in the book that it was donated in their memory how can i
