number of transportation challenges a top priority of the region is to improve the movement of people and goods in response to these transportation challenges the region has initiated the york rapid transit plan yrtp to facilitate the implementation of a rapid transit network in york region the plan encompasses studies of two major transit corridors and two connecting links to toronto the highway 7 corridor the yonge street corridor the vaughan northsouth link and the markham northsouth link to make the right connections the highway 7 corridor and vaughan ns link ea is examining rapid transit services between vaughan richmond hill and markham and from vaughan corporate centre to york university the first public consultation centre in february 2003 summarized existing conditions and recommendations of the terms of reference the second in april 2003 provided an opportunity for the public to comment on the design of alignment alternatives and station facilities at this third meeting we will present results of the route evaluations proposed station locations urban design and streetscaping images effects of widening of highway 7 for the transit lanes measures to accommodate traffic circulation and replace left turns into minor streets and properties along the route the preferred alternative for rapid transit comprises a two lane median fransitway generally in the highway 7 corridor between highway 50 in vaughan and locust hill in markham along with short sections of transit operation in mixed traffic at existing major northsouth overpasses stations at approximately 1 km spacing located generally at major intersections access to an intermodal terminal facility in the langstaff area providing connection to go transit and the proposed yonge street transitway access to a maintenance facility for transit vehicles park and ride and passenger pickupdropoff facilities at selected stations come out and help make the right connections you are invited and encouraged to attend the upcoming public consultation centres to express your views on the design of alternatives and potential solutions for rapid transit in the highway 7 corridor the third public consultation transfer station wednesday october 8 2003 900 am york region administrative centre 17250 yonge street newmarket committee room a ontario regulation 24402 under the municipal act 2001 the act requires municipalities to hold a public meeting prior to passing a bylaw under part xii of the act to impose fees for solid waste management services the regional municipality of york intends to pass a bylaw to set fees to be charged in 2004 at its transfer station located at 23068 warden avenue in the town of georgina the proposed fees are presented below material sources works operations of york region and local municipalities delivered by residents industrial commercial and institutional solid waste 8600 per tonne 7000 per tonne 8600 per tonne compostable yard waste 9000 per tonne 7000 per tonne
