madness was to begin play ing havoc with the downtown stouffville event as the evening wore on no power meant no singers dancers or karaoke could be heard on main street and ho cash registers could be oper ated residents who strolled downtown to check but the few shops that remained open had trouble seeing the mer chandise because it was so dark inside j our town with hannelore volpe the organizer is hop ing for big crowds this time around and no blackout next weeks event will fea ture local dancers singers and an allgirl band from stouffville secondary school merchants will hold sidewalk sales and offer specials and giveaways throughout the evening i bia manager ruth leblanc who organized the event is hoping for big crowds this time around andno black out shes also ready to hand out gifts to anyone who is willing to wear their pyjamas to moonlight madness indoor pool closing for maintenance the indoor pool at the lebovic leisure centre will be closed from aug 23 to sept 5 to get its first major scrubbing down and maintenance check the pool will reopen on sept 6 to its regular schedule in the meantime the outdoor pool will stay open until labour day anyone with a member ship card can use it at the out door facility it will take about a week to scrub the pools tiles and grout and check all the equip ment including the slide refilling and heating the pool and balancing the chemicals will take about another week many municipalities close their pools annually for main tenance said tom graham the towns director of leisure services since stouffvilles pool is still new its slated to be closed every two years for maintenance horticulture society helps building fund the stouffville horticulture societys first garden tour in july enabled the group to donate more than 1000 to the parkview home building fund this week at least 103 people visited seven artistically tended gar dens throughout whitchurch stouffville to marvel at the blooms trees and shrubs with the whitchurch- stouffville chamber of commerces donation of printing expenses for the event all of the proceeds from- the tour could be donated to parkview the society continues to meet the third monday
