firstyear of university in september i an 87 per cent average along with extracurricular and volun teer involvement has put the oac student into an elite group of 80 students from across canada who received scholar ships worth almost 7000 each from queens university in kingston ont tesha will be hitting the books in a medieval atmosphere at the international study centre in herstrhonceaux sussex england about 100 km south of london the 16th century castle hosts- the largest medieval festival in england from aug 23 to 25 each year tesha wiu be studying politi cal science as well as spanish german and french shell return to the queens university campus in kingston for her second year i would like to work for the government she said maybe at a foreign embassy however the former ballantrae public school stu dent isnt ruling out a career in medicine either for the past 10 months she has volun teered at newmarkets southlake regional health centre and markham stoufiville hospital music and sports have been an important part of her life at sdss tesha has played the flute in the school band and is on the music council field hockey was the sport of choice or the all around person as 5dss the prediction walk around unionyilles toogood pond coming in with a silver medal to his bronze stouffvilles silver jubilee club is in the third year of a five commitment to host the cribr bage and the lawn bowling events quarter century of visits from church a dedicated group of visitors from stouffville united church was honoured for the years of friendship and assistance they have brought to residents of stouffvilles parkview home parkview recently hosted a tea for the volunteers including those celebrating 25 years or more of service those honoured were margaret jemmett edith bacon dixie sellers dianne darling barbara schell audrey and les clark and janette barry around 40 volunteers were honoured for service ranging from one year to the 38 years contributed by edith bacon the church volunteers read to sen iors take them outside for walks work in the tuck shop and help at mealtimes some volunteers even bring their children said bonnie borchardt the chaplain at parkview home other popular visitors are bryan millsip and lia a golden i retriever who lives in his neigh bourhood they were recently recog nized by the st johns ambulance therapy dog pro gram for completing 75 visits
