put in about 1500 hours of overtime last year pushing his salary over 100000 it was our busiest year since the region has been incorporated he said adding there were 14 homicides in the region in 2002 ontario public sector workers salaries were released monday as required by provincial law mr rushton was the only detective in york region who earned more than 100000 receiving 1 10729 in salary and 217 in taxable benefits retired police chief robert middaugh earned 156455 last year and 3404 in taxable benefits com pared to 153387 in 2001 and 5992 in benefits before retiring last year 50 employees working for york region earned more than 100000 compared to 39 in 2001 our salaries have to be competi tive a regional spokesperson said adding the region has to compete with other regions and the private sector one of the high wage earners was helena jaczek the commissioner of health services and the medical officer of health who earned 152040 and 8877 in benefits regional chairperson bill fisch earned 142843 and 9408 in benefits last year up from 139799 in salary and 9070 in benefits in 2001 five employees of southlake regional health centre earned more than 100000 including president dan carriere who earned 240000 and 57597 in taxable benefits dale evans a registered nurse received 101446 and 13272 in benefits sixteen employees from york central hospital in richmond hill were on the list the highest earner was john doucet clinical director of laboratory medicine who earned 299076 and 1049 in benefits markhanr stouffville hospital had seven employees who earned more than 100000 including dr jim maclean president and ceo who earned 243457 and 8913 in benefits at york region district school board 22 employees earned more than 100000 while at the catholic district
