the largest in ontarios history our government is dedicat- to ensuring the long care needs of seniors are met within the community said mr eves former green gables bloomington cove a 112- bed longterm care centre replaces the 31bed green gables nursing home located on a fiveacre site near bloomington road the name green gables has been retired construction of york regions first alldementia care facility has been going on for a number of months the resi- dents have moved into their newquarters and every bed is taken longterm care beds are in serious demand province- wide 20000 new long beds will be made available by 2004 in york region the eves government is adding 1818 new beds and redeveloping 757 older beds the beds that opened today are part of this effort said mr eves i blopntihglotif cove is unique the facility owned by the jourdain family of specialty care is a memorycare centre dedicated to alzheimer and dementia care the modern living atmos phere offers a more homelike feel to the seniors in our care isaid paula jourdain president of specialty care the ontario governments investments in longterm care are translating into better care for seniors in me stouffville community said ms jourdain oak ridges mpp and transportation minister frank klees told the gathering he was more than willing to help bring more longterm beds to stouffville im
