the need for a fast track clinic was identified by 1 the increase in emergency visits in 20016s there were 40000 visits compared to 31805 visits in 199697 2 more patients are requiring intensive assessments diagnostic tests and treatments thereby causing longer waits for our less urgent and nonemergent patients 3 the desire to improve customer service and waiting times how are we doing to date we have had 5359 visits in our fast track clinic oct 01 to mar 02 j our average wait time in fast track clinic is 13 hours what have our patients told us thanks to the fast track patient care what a fan tastic asset to our community hospital the fast track program is absolutely sensa tional the fast track clinic was very helpful and quick how does the fast track clinic work everyone who comes into the hospital emergency department is triaged by a nurse to deter mine the urgency of hisher medical problem if the persons need is not emergent heshe may be referred to the fast track clinic the fast track clinic team includes an emergency physician nurse practitioner and a clinical nurse fast track patients have access to all hospital services ie xray laboratory specialists fast track clinic hours are monday to saturday 200 1000 pm sunday 1200 1000 pm vts york region human services planning coalition the heath services planning coalition hspc was established in 2001 to
