stouffville the artists who attend songwriters night at fullertons place on main street are as diver sified as their material a stu dent an engineer a construction worker and a teacher of autistic children take turns performing at an event designated especially for songwriters professional entertainer jayne harvey has two distinct lives every morning she leaves her thornhill home with a truck load of puppets rattles shakers and her old faithful her guitar ms harvey does private music circles for children ranging in age from six weeks to six years at night ms harvey pub crawls delivering music to a more mature audience with two separate venues the veteran entertainers material ranges from love gone wrong to wet the bed again unlike many people ms harvey loves her work enough so that she sings on her night off on the first monday of every month ms harvey joins musicians from across york region at fullertons its a lot of fun its inspiring ms harvey said ive written more than 300 songs when i try them out here nobody rips you apart nobody rocks your confidence ms harveys biggest fan is her friend ed rossini everyone agrees the 42year old rossini plays a mean harmonica judging from the sound its obvi ous the construction worker by- day has music in his soul all of tire time i started to write songs three years ago this gives me an opportunity to try out my new material said mr rossini songwriter night coordinator and entertainer deborah lees music is a country blues mixture influenced by entertainers bonnie raitt billie holiday and bette midler the musselmans lake resident has her sights set on tennessee her partner robin edgar kemsley a regular at the local songwriters night was in nashville last month attending tin pan south a song writers conference nobodys going to tell me i suck ms lees day job involves working with autistic children it too is rewarding she said with the support of fellow musi cians ms lee puts the polish on a new song written especially for her two sons about 12 musicians attend a regular songwriters night each sings two songs for a total of 24 said ms lee it makes for a good evening the audience enjoys it and it gives the musicians a chance to try out new stuff with out fear of harsh criticism accompanied by her father rachael bradley joins the group although still a teenager miss bradley is very much at home on stage at the bradley household in vandorf music is a family affair involving both parents and two siblings miss bradley has defined her musical style influenced by singer tori amos miss bradley is now leaning more towards jazz and the blues theres a great deal of posi tive energy at the songwriters night miss bradley said everyones supportive nobodys going to tell me i suck a realist ms bradley knows establishing a music career is a long shot because of this she has a backup plan if i dont become a fulltime entertainer ill likely become a journalist she said miss bradleys father is a pro fessional engineer david bradley 53 has been singing and playing the guitar since the 1960s its been a lifelong hobby he said if i wasnt here with the songwriters id be jam ming at home i come here to enjoy to learn and of course to look out for my daughter hurricane mike thompson a newmarket truck driver by day and an entertainer by night receives a spirited welcome im sort of a rosy blues folksycountry entertainer i play acoustic its my favourite the songwriters night gives me inspiration ive written at least 250 songs here everyones a teacher its good mr thompson said unionville
