north america in hopes of raising rnoney and awareness about the plight of i children in africa after touring the children return home to attend an academy school and study to become professionals such as engineers doctors or teachers we do this because its one way where people can actually see the children and touch them to know that the picture they see on television of ah impoverished child is real because life really is not easy for them said tour director liana smauwood a native of vancouver virs rewarding for me personally because im doing something i can to help change their lives and the kids are really fun and witty the children who sing in the choir change every year said smauwood- so that as many impover- ished children as possible have the opportunity to r and be educated the children who per formed in 1992 were nominated for a grammy award no matter where you go in africa and no mat ter if theyre orphans or have families they are dis advantaged and need all the help
