of the same thursday nights 54 home ice loss to the lindsay muskies rep resented all the frustrations experienced by the spirit of stouffville in their second provincial junior a hockey league season the spirit were good but not quite good enough as they car ried a 10 lead into the second period then rallied to tie the game at 44 in the third only to have the muskies count the game winner with just over a minute to play to fall short by a goal so many times this season has been dis heartening said spirit manager wally crowder crowder said the frustration of the close losses and diminish ing support from the fans is tak ing its toll the peo ple who are coming out say were playing entertaining hockey and the kids havent quit all season said crowder maybe we should look into taking the team to another town if the people here arent going to support it crowder commended the spirit for playing as well as they have despite a chronic shortage of practice time the spirit got a goal and two assists from john lowrie during thursdays contest kevin edgar had a goal and an assist with phil vito and tate philips scoring as well rob frost had three assists the spirit who were to travel to collingwood to play the blues last night close out the season at home against the muskies today at 730 pm minor bantams win playoff opener david brown hit for the hat trick while lukas williams and matt sullivan each scored twice to power an ailing aikens ida minor bantam clippers to a 109 victory over the georgina ice in the first game of their playoff series between the two teams the clippers who netted the win ner with two minutes left in the end to end contest got single scores from ryan fontanna peter smit and justin heyworth smit and ryan jones each registered two assists casey maude sullivan fontanna heyworth matt prentice brown and williams were each credited with single helpers the next two contests were scheduled to take place in georgina this monday and thursday bruins bear spartans rolled to victory in the prelimi nary round robin fin ishing first out of 12 teams they then swept the host team in the quarter finals before advancing to the finals with a twogame sweep of
