fville last night it seems to me that we divide dur minds into two when it comes to breaking the law there are big laws against theft and murder which most of us would never break then there are the little laws which are okay to break the problem is more and more people have a hard time separating the big ones from the little ones harrowsmith makes star of railway yorkdurham heritage railway is volunteers so that it can be incorporated into the planned tourist railway between the two communities representatives of harrowsmith magazine were also on the scene working on the third part of their series on the restoration project early in the day the television crew arrived at schell lumber in stouf fville whichis supplying missing trim sections for the station and recorded the production process in the heritage wood shop with master carpenter harry schell the rest of the day was spent at the uxbridge sta tion where minwax products were applied by compa ny experts to create an authentic finish to the interi- or wood panelling a team of local volunteers was on hand to assist with the project ian woods of ik woods and partners chartered surveyors was instrumental in organizing the involvement of minwax which is using the project to showcase its products in both the harrowsmith tele- vision program and in the magazine when woods first surveyed the station about five- years ago at the request of uxbridge council he found that beneath the paint varnish and wallboard was an old station waiting to shine through when bob russell of minwax visited the site he was equally enthusiastic and helped to forge a partnership which benefits both the railway and the company the uxbridge station has been videoed and pho tographed and was presented as a heritage project at minwaxs international convention in florida explained woods an avid proponent of historical restoration projects in the area who has donated many hours of time to work at the station with the assistance of various companies in supply ing products and labor a hard-working- group of vol unteers and the strong support of uxbridge town ship woods said the station will be done for proba bly about 10 to 15 per cent of what it would normally cost kate gilderdale cat came home on whitchurchstoufrvilie library brings christmas a lit tle closer this afternoon with a presentation by the mr fea turing fabulous lifesize puppets the fun begins at 2 pm and admission is 2 at the door how do you tell your chil dren that daddy broke the law and parked on the street its no really his fault but that of the politicians who made the law or the policeman who wrote the ticket which is very seldom how about the dog owner who takes his dogs to the conservation area to let them run free they need exercise and then doesnt bother pick ing up after them because it is more natural tr is it just macho how about the drivers who dont stop at the stop signs on millard between midnight and seven in the morning because there is no one coming any way i guess its okay to cheat on our income tax too if its just a small item and we dont get caught is it any wonder that our children are having problems deciding on what is right from wrong it seems that mom and dad have the same prob lem aubrey wilkinson stouffville studies have tapped us dry dear editor now we have consultants try ing to make our city bigger did nt we get enough of that when we created regional govern ment less politicians and school trustees they are the only ones who can control these bureaucrats spending havent we found out from experience that the bigger a place gets the less efficient farther from the people it isnt the politicians and trustees that cost us so much its top bureaucrats and consultants that are hired also the studies that are done maybe we should do a study and find out how much of our tax dollars go to studies consul tants and lawyers it isnt just small government its all gov ernments some of us can remember when we didnt even need or have a bylaw officer maybe the old ways of doing things werent so bad after all at least if the politician made the mistake we knew who it was it also seems we just go from one crisis to another at all levels of government even our former prime minis ter is suing the federal govern ment wouldnt an apology been better if he is innocent im sure he dont need the money that way we would all have more respect for him my view from here jim rae stouffville
